Cage Setup Ideas

Cage Sze

Budgies need a spacious cage that allows them to fly and exercise. The minimum size cage for one budgies is 18″ x 18″ x 24″.

If you have the room, a larger cage is better. The bar spacing on the cage should be no more than ½” to prevent your budgie from getting stuck.

The inside of the cage should be filled with toys and perches for your budgie to play with and climb on.

Budgies love to chew, so offer them plenty of chew toys made of safe materials such as balsa or sola wood and/or paper.

Why Do Parakeets Need A Cage?

Parakeets need a cage for a few different reasons.

Safety

In case you are not at home, your parakeets will be safe in its cage. If you live in an area with other animals, such as cats or dogs, it’s important to keep your parakeet in a cage to prevent them from getting hurt.

Parakeets are social creatures and need a place to feel safe and secure.

A cage with plenty of toys, perches, and hiding places will help your parakeets feel comfortable and relaxed.

While parakeet enjoy interacting with their owners, they also need time to themselves. Having a cage allows your parakeet to have its own space when it wants to be left alone.
